Twitter 102 – beyond getting started with Twitter

Getting started with Twitter can be a series of false starts. We join up, follow a couple of people who have also just joined up, and then what? Nothing seems to happen, the enthusiasm drains, and Twitter can seem a waste of time.

Some teachers at our school are keen to ‘start again’ with Twitter, aiming to make it work for them this time. Here are some resources to and ideas to help get over the initial challenge.

– Back in February 2012 I posted some tips for Teachers starting with Twitter on my blog, Blending ICT.

The Edudemic site has a great post to help teachers get started with Twitter, and a collection of posts about practical ways for teachers to use Twitter in their teaching and learning.

Next get together

Looking forward to our next session which will include:

– a short session on making Twitter work better for you. Read this post from Ed Tech and Mobile Learning before the session and bring you ideas and questions.

– a time for those who have started blogs or other initiatives to share their experience. Some examples from our group: Learning Leaps, Life out Loud, Learning Matters, Inspired to Learn and Create, Blendingict

– choosing a teachmeet to attend or present at. Plenty to choose from on the TMSydney wiki

– a visit from Chris Betcher who’ll share his experience of using Google+ and how it has changed the way he blogs. Read Chris’ blog post before the session and bring along your ideas and questions.

Lift off for one of the team

One of the buildourpln team has already started her learning blog,

Looks great Cathy! If you’re in the buildourpln team can you check out Cathy’s blog and give her some feedback in the comments section. Maybe give her some ideas for future posts?

If anyone else in the team has started a blog or already has one they’d like to share, please go ahead and put a link on buildourpln so can all see.
